Nicki Souter - Director
Nicki has over 20 years experience in developing and delivering effective behavioural change programmes for the resource management sector. Currently she is Director of Nicki Souter Associates (NSA), a communications consultancy which has been in operation for 6 years and previously Nicki was Campaign Manager for the Waste Aware Scotland / Zero Waste Campaigning Programme. She has considerable experience in developing behavioural change programmes for public, private sector and third sector clients across the resource and carbon management sectors. Clients include the Scottish and UK Governments, Zero Waste Scotland, WRAP, and the Welsh Assembly. Nicki excels at simultaneously managing a consortium of projects and teams of sub-contractors, as well as nurturing great working relationships with clients.
Nicki has a PhD in Environmental Biochemistry and Microbiology and is a Chartered Waste Manager with CIWM. She is Chair of the CIWM’s Scottish Centre Council, sits on the UK CIWM Communications Committee, is a CIWM Scottish Government Technical Advisor and has also recently joined Waste Aid on their Council of Reference as an advisor. She has won several resource management awards for her work in the sector including the outstanding individual achievement award and the ISWA Global Communications Award for her work with Waste Aware Scotland.
Charlie Hardman - Creative Director
Charlie has over 7 years experience in the resource management sector and has a wealth of experience coordinating the development and design of a range of new waste and recycling communication materials for private, public and third sector clients. Charlie coordinates the activities of the NSA Design Team, manages the design of all artwork, develops communication materials from templates and original concepts, ensures brand compliance and manages photographic requirements. Charlie is a natural at developing innovative designs and consistently develops meaningful and aesthetic artwork. He has excellent IT skills with a particular focus on design and photo-editing software including In-Design, Illustrator and Photoshop.
Charlie has an MSc in Integrated Environmental Studies and is a Chartered Waste Manager with CIWM. He is an IEMA member and is Prince 2 and IOSH Qualified. He is currently Secretary of the CIWM Scotland Centre and also edits and designs their newsletter.
Hamish Martin - Data Analyst
As NSA’s Data Analyst Hamish has robust data analysis skills, in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, and varied experience of using these within the waste and resource management sector. He is adept at manipulating large amounts of data and carrying out data modelling. He performs statistical analysis and has experience of designing, analysing and reporting of behavioural and attitudinal surveys. For example, he has project managed a survey and engagement door-knocking campaign for Aberdeen City Council in which he has managed the delivery, designed a survey using the QPSMR survey software package and carried out extensive analysis and reporting of results. For the SWITCH (Scottish Waste Industry Training, Competency, Health & Safety) Forum Communications Strategy, he carried out qualitative data analysis of in-depth interviews and all other data requirements. Hamish is able to report complex research findings in a concise and understandable way for clients.
Hamish has an MSc Merit in Conservation and is a Member of the Social Research Association.
Kirsten Mathison - Senior Project Manager
Kirsten has over 7 years experience as a project manager developing and delivering effective behavioural change programmes for the resource management sector. Kirsten previously worked as a Campaigns Officer for Keep Scotland Beautiful and a Communications Officer at the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, before taking up her current role as a Senior Project Manager at Nicki Souter Associates. She recently project managed the communications support for recycling and waste service changes for Glasgow City Council. In this role, she planned, coordinated and delivered communication support and collateral, as well as provided strategic communications advice for Scotland’s largest city. Kirsten is particularly skilled at ensuring project delivery is effectively run on time and to budget through regular reporting and use of custom project trackers. Kirsten is trained to deliver Mac design support.
Kirsten has a BSc in Rural Resource Management and is a Chartered Waste Manager with CIWM.
Alfie - Office Dogsbody
Alfie has several months of experience of office life and is a key team player. He has excellent chewing skills and is highly experienced in direct communication methods and is a vocal member of the team. Alfie is a natural on social media and regularly tweets; follow him at @nicki_souter #AlfiesAntics
He is currently studying behavioural change techniques at puppy training school and is expected to graduate soon with top marks.
